Advanced Eye Examinations
The Original.
The Most Thorough. Still the Gold Standard.
Advanced Eye Examination – £99
Dilated Advanced Eye Examination – £180 (45 minutes)
At Lynne Fernandes Optometrists, we introduced the Advanced Eye Examination over 15 years ago - long before it became a buzzword. While many practices now offer “advanced” tests, our approach remains deeper, more personalised, and clinically led.
This is not a longer sight test. It’s a comprehensive eye health assessment designed to protect your vision now and in the future.
Why Choose an Advanced Eye Examination?
Your eyes change over time - often silently. Many eye conditions develop without symptoms until vision is already affected. Our Advanced Eye Examination is designed to detect subtle changes early, giving you clarity, confidence, and control over your eye health.
An LFO Advanced Eye Examination includes:
- A detailed discussion of your lifestyle, vision demands, and concerns
- Precise vision assessment, tailored to how you actually use your eyes
- Comprehensive eye health checks of the front and back of the eye
- OCT imaging to view the deeper layers of the retina in high detail
- Eye pressure and peripheral vision assessment, where clinically appropriate
- A clear explanation of your results and personalised recommendations
Most importantly, your examination is never rushed. We take the time needed to understand your eyes - not just record measurements.
Standard vs Dilated – Which Is Right for You?
Advanced Eye Examination – £99
Ideal for most patients who want a thorough, proactive assessment of their vision and eye health.
Includes:
- Advanced imaging and diagnostics
- Comprehensive health evaluation
- Personalised advice and monitoring recommendations
Dilated Advanced Eye Examination – £180 (45 minutes)
Our most in-depth clinical assessment, recommended if you:
- Have eye health concerns or symptoms
- Have a family history of eye disease
- Are diabetic or have other systemic health risks
- Want the most detailed retinal examination possible
Dilating the pupils allows your optometrist to examine a wider area of the retina in greater detail, supporting earlier detection and more confident clinical decisions.
If you’re unsure which option is right, our team will guide you
Who Is an Advanced Eye Examination For?
This examination is particularly suited to people who:
- Want more than a routine sight test
- Value early detection and prevention
- Are proactive about long-term eye health
- Prefer personalised, unhurried care
- Want continuity - not a one-off appointment
Ongoing Eye Care
For many patients, the Advanced Eye Examination becomes the starting point for a longer-term approach to eye health.
If your results suggest you would benefit from ongoing monitoring, your optometrist may recommend EyeSense - our personalised eyecare membership designed around your eyes, your risks, and your future needs.
EyeSense allows us to:
- Track changes over time
- Act early if something shifts
- Provide structured, preventative care rather than reactive treatment
There’s no obligation - just informed choice.
