Qualifications
BSc(Hons) MCOptom DipTP(IP) DOptomI am a specialist optometrist working between community and hospital settings with expertise in contact lenses, acute care, cataract, oculoplastics (dry eye), macular treatment and glaucoma.
I graduated from Aston University in 2010 and completed my pre-registration training in the north-east of England; my hospital-placement at Sunderland Eye Infirmary inspired me to move from community practice to secondary care in 2013. I spent eight years at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital working in core and extended roles, plus supervising and teaching students of optometry and medicine. During this time, I qualified as an Independent Prescriber and earned my Doctorate of Optometry with a thesis titled ‘Independent Prescribing Optometrists in Acute Ophthalmic Services’; my research has been published and presented at national conferences. My interest in education continues through teaching, plus writing and delivering CPD events.
